What I did today, by Mr F Wheel aged 35..

Because I've been a good boy at work and done all my chores.. I got let out to play today.

4:15 start wasnt fun, but I made it to the Bedford Aero drome scoffed a free breakfast, had a brefing and all ready to go by about 9am.

First off. Probably the most daunting car of the day the Formula Jaguar.

3litre V6 and it was chucking it down.. I was a bit apprehensive, getting strapped in and the car being started and hearing 300bhp of V6 burbilng away in my ears.





Well it was wet, it had way more power than I am used to and I got a bit cocky and spun, but only once, I cant tell you how many laps I did, but it was fun. Huge fun.

Next we hoped in the Palmer Jaguar Le Manns car I didnt manage to get photos of that, but you can see one in the background of the first pic above.

Now being 2 seater I had some company, he kept telling me to go faster when I didnt want to and kept telling me leave the brake pedal alone when I wanted to push it. Basically the instructor encourages you to go faster and boy did it make me realise what a lame ass driver I am !!

Then we did some go karting, then some off roading in a Land Rover, what an amazing off road verhicle !! then we had a play in a caterham. It was wet couldnt keep the thing in a straight line !! Again huge fun and a real lesson in car control ( I dont have any !! )



Next up 911's the bit of the day I had been looking forward to and I wasnt disappointed I dont think I've ever braked so hard and then booted a car out of a corner like this, its so refined and just soaks up everything you can chuck at it Mega. Had adrenaline shakes for about 5 minutes after that



Next up the Clio Cup, ( which you can see in the background behind the Porsches above ) I thought this would be a bit lame, but it isnt, stripped out race car, likes rev's, likes being chucked about, was a lot more fun than I expected and theres something satisfying about thrashing the nuts off a small front wheel drive car.

Again instructors with you in the car, telling you to go faster, and when to brake etc etc. Really encouraging you to push yourself out of your comfort zone and really get as much as you can from the cars, but I kinda got the feeling that the car was still nowhere near its limit.

The Lunch !!

After started good, Jaguar XKR again I'd been looking forward to driving this all day to







Same thing instructor telling you to go faster all the time, this thing is awesome, low down grunt is incredible, but its so refined like the Porsche but unlike the Porsche its pretty lairy once you take it past a certain point and then it gets a bit of a handful, begining to learn to steer with the throttle and how much better the car drives with a positive throttle rather than lifting off like my instinct was telling me to.

Then back into Caterhams again for some more track fun and boy did these provide plenty, no grip, but so much feedback, again more steering on the throttle and lots of tail out action with spinning !!!

Then tea then home.

Not jealous at all.

So what are we talking about? ?100 all in? Maybe ?120 what with lunch and the full breakfast?

I once enquired about a similiar thing. Unless you're going corporate event rate, something like that will maybe cost more like £500-£1000 a pop depending on who with, what vehicles etc.

The corporate rate is ?850 but thats for all the food and everything.

There was a guy there on his own an he'd paid ?650 for it and got the corporate catering chucked in, I think they sell off empty places last minute at a discounted rate.

We paid £750 each for the full corporate day for about 20 people, one of our clients who also does this once a year pays £850, not sure what the difference is or whether our company just manages to blag a better deal (or cheaper food more than likely lol)

Amazings day though, much better than the cheap driving experiences you can also do.

WOW what a day!! Loads of money though, not sure I could afford that . Looks absolutely stunning though, I would love to do that.
