Just got a Fuel exhaust and desperate to fit it and go for a ride
![]() ![]() Hopefully it dries out a bit later and I can fit it today so.... Is there anything I should be aware when cutting the original or any tips? from the search I have just done it appears that I should be able to this without removing the exhaust (EDIT: obviously I know I need to cut it!) but how easy it it? Appreciate any advice, and can't wait... Last edited by mattb200; 17-05-08 at 05:00 PM. |

no need to remove the exhaust, wrap some thick cardboard around the swingarm cause you'll be ****ed of you slip and graunch a slice in it

Personally I'd bought a spare zorst from ebay so was able to cut it on a bench but the theory is the same.
I put a strip of making tape around the exhaust to make it easier to mark and less likely to slip with the hacksaw. I then measured my line against the weld all the way round the pipe, then I measured my line against the weld all the way round the pipe AGAIN! I then took my time with a sharp hacksaw and lubricated to blade with oil from time to time to avoid heat build up and therefore any chance of scorching anything. I then used a fine grade file to remove any burrs and ended up with a lovely clean cut that was instantly covered up by the link pipe ![]() |

cheers for the replies, looks like i should get a dry day to fit it tomorrow
![]() phoned up insurers earlier (hastings direct) who said they made a note of it but no charge. Bonus!. I thought they would have used the opportunity to slap on an extra charge, even if only 10 or 20 pound, but fair play to them they weren't really interested as its only an "end can". |
