Default The peril of second hand ownership

or a big thank you to ham fisted wanna be mechanics.

So it is that time in my little gixxers ownership where I need to fit new rear rubber. I got a good quoted from those nice chaps at B&C to fit on loose wheel.

Bike on stand. big socket fitted on breaker bar. WTF, it won't turn. heave and it move a tad. So airline out, impact gun and it still won't shift. So end up back with breaker bar nearly pulled the bike off the paddock stand and eventually I get the nut off.

this is the reason why it won't shift.

I cannot believe I have done 3000 miles with that. So now I need to source a new axle and nut as well as the rubber. Thank you Mr Bodger

This is more likely done by a garage than the last owner I'd have thought, it's relativly uncommon for people to take their own wheels out nowadays.

Anyway, it didn't come off did it?

How did they only bodge the middle of the thread. It looks to me like the nut has seized on the axle. I always use a little copper grease on threads to stop this happening.
