Default Removing Footpeg Rubbers

I've done a quick search but can't find what i was after. I've read on here a few times that if you remove the rubber from the stock foot pegs on a curvy, there are perfectly good metal ones underneath. Just wondering the best way to go about removing the rubber. Mine are beginning to look a bit shabby and it would save having to buy new ones. Is there a quick and easy way to do it?

This thread needs a Northwind. He has mentioned several times about this. If it was me and I was trying to get the rubber off I'd remove the footpeg from the hanger and put it in the oven on a moderate heat for a while then try pulling it off. But I don't know if that would work....

It was Northwind I'd read talking about it. I have a broken peg from when my dad came of my bike that I was trying first but it seems to be a nightmare. i was thinking about heat myself. hopefully Northwind will be around soon then and i can find out the best method.

Guess that too much heat might mess everything up!
Maybe spray thinner might do the trick?

You don't want to melt the rubber too much, but the peg itself will survive the burning rubber mess you make of the oven I'd probably start at 100-150 degrees and see if it helped at all. But if you want to side-step the whole burning rubber / house fire scenario the man speaks sense with the thinners. Might well do the trick!

Why not just hacksaw through the bulk of the rubber and scrape out the remainder from the grooves? Would seem to be an easy and quick way to do this job.
