Default Hello, and curvey handlebar risers.

Hello one and all. Found this forum and like the look so decided to join you.

I've had my SV650S for a year or so now. The wrists ache like hell so it's time to sell her or even better to sort out the riding position.

I am a laid back rider .... and used to sitting upright before so these clip-ons are a bit strange but I've not got used to them.

I saw some kits but not sure what the experiences are to help me decide what to do.

Which kits are best?
Is there a way to do this without a kit?

Any ideas welcome
cheers

Is it that the levers are to high which means your wrists have to bend upwards?

There should be a nut on each side of the handle bars which you can loosen then tilt the levers forward so they are pointing more towards the ground. This will enable you to have a straighter line from your elbow to your finger tips. I hope that makes sense and i have explained myself well.

BTW, welcome to the org. Where abouts in the Midlands are???

Thanks for this,

I'll give your idea a try first. I come from Large Trailies before so used to very upright position.

I'm in Coventry.

Has anyone put uprights on a curvey SV650? which ones work? which ones look OK?

curvey pointy? Which is it?

curveys are the good looking 99-02 bikes and the pointies are the ugly 03 onwards bikes.

A few people have put proper bars on faired pointies, not sure about the curvies.

So it's a faired curvy.

Right you can bin the fairings and turn it into a naked easily enough or get a bar riser kit. I'm not sure what clearance issues you'll get putting bars on with the fairing on the curvy.

Have you tried adjusting the levers to the proper angle first?

I've just adjusted them tonight....I'll give it a go for a few days. I've had my right wrist broken in the past and is causing problems anyway... bike is not the cause but does make it worse. We will see what the lever angle change does.
thanks

It will take a long time but with use on a bike it will ease a bit, this comes from personal experience!

Another option if pivoting the levers doesn't work is on Ebay; (and here for Pointy owners)

D-Dave, thanks for this... did you try these yourself? I was wondering if overall it works out, feel, ride, not sluggish or sloppy steering?

Your pics make it look OK
