I'm really disappointed to hear about this - much as I'd rather Stoner didn't win, that sort of reception isn't really in the spirit of bike racing!
He's clearly a guy with a fair degree of talent and IMO deserves some respect for that. |

No he doesn't deserve the reception he got at Donington!
I was also shocked by the idiots that rushed onto the track at the end of the race when racers we still crossing the line... it was more like something you see in Spain than you see in the UK... and people touching the bikers just to say "I touched Rossi's arm" or whatever... utter ****s!!! Seems like a lot of people were there just to see the crashes, or get autographs... not to watch the race at all.... hence why going to races doesn't appeal to me... i don;t play well with others ![]() |

As stated on my thread about the Ducati, Stoner is doing a very good job on the Ducati, and also quoting the Ape

Hes paid to ride the Duke fast round the track. He does that bloody well and was world champ last year and has the potential to be an all time great rider.Hes not paid to be a nice personality or a joker and like Pedrosa will probably never be a big hit with the public. One or two exceptions, but most world champions are like that.I dont recall Doohan and Foggy being life and soul of the party types either.

Although i dont agree with the booing and w*&nker signs he said he got when interviewed (which was funny in itself). Why does he think he deserves the adoration instead. If you are not liked you are not liked simply as really. I have immense respect for his talent but I didnt cheer and woop just because he won. As with any sports we will always have robots who are bloody amazingly talented but have the personaility of a sock. When Pedrosa wins I may applaud his ability but I am not bothered or moved when he does.
Oh and he is Australian and rides for the marmite team, so hes got to expect a little baracking when hes here. ![]() |

God he doesn't help himself does he. Nobody likes a whiner. Honestly, if I were his PR person I'd get him to quit whining, be able to laugh at hiimself, and sometimes smile when things DON'T go his way.
Oh, and the amount of times he's done the head shaking gesture to other riders when he thinks they are in his way (and often aren't) doesn't help him either. He's a very talented guy indeed, and I do not condone those nutters behaving like that, but he really doesn't help. |

To come into moto GP at 20 and after a year or two to be getting pole and on the podium, whilst racing the beast of a bike the duc is, is amazing. He deserves 100% respect. Fair enough he hasnt got the personality that rossi has, but either do alot of the other racers.
I say keep it up! As for booing, those ****s should be put out on a track alone and get booed at :P maybe throw some rotten veg at them too |

yes he desreves respect he is talented on that Ducati for sure. But to blame his crew for making wrong decisions and moaning that a podium third was not worth it is not the way to earn the respect of the fans. If the fans are for you then it helps Im sure if you are a moaning git they wont like you, simple.
The title race is on and he will be up there giving it some. Roll on Assen now....... |
