I was still not happy with the fuelling on my K3, so at the weekend I removed both the Throttle Link rod and the STV link rod. I cleaned the ball joints and gave them a light coating of silicone grease.
I also made up a new vacuum balancing gauge and made it permanent this time, mounting it on a piece of wood. I re-balanced the throttles again, this time at 3000 rpm, not at tick-over. Finally I adjusted the Throttle Position Sensor. Last night I went to Poole and back and carried on riding until the light came on. The most I have ever had before is 125 miles. I was not taking it easy last night either, let's just say I had some fun. I can even feel the difference, there is so much more grunt lower down in the rev range. On a more sedate ride, closer to 60mpg may even be possible! Tim. |

I have had 64mpg on a long 70mph run up and down the M1 on the SV
I filled up (£16) the RR Sunday night nailed it for 7.7 miles and the fuel gauge went down 1 bar ![]()

Congrats.
![]() I keep my TB's balanced pretty much constantly (whenever the bike sees a spanner/screwdriver/wire cutter, it also sees my Carbtune). As you did, I also balance at approx 3k RPM. The last time I put fuel in the bike, I put £10 in at roughly £1.19.9. I got 100.7 miles out of that. I make that 46mpg, so I'm not far behind you. ![]() EDIT: That gives a projected tank range (17l tank) of 173miles!! |

I've had about 165 miles to flashing light as well - mind you I tend not to ride with the revs above 6k so that may be why...

Bah! When I was running my lovely in I got 180 before she started flashing me. :P That of course was generally keeping the revs below 6k though. :/
However now I can rev freely, I am attaining somewhat lower miles to the tank! |

i get about 120 -130 - thats mostly motoroway miles tearing from swindon > slough and back. admitteldy i emphasis the word tearing.
I'll try it mode sedately now and see what i can return, but thats some great mileage figures. i do fill up at asda though so no high octane stuff. |

All these people talking about sedate riding...
The last time I put fuel in the bike, was £10, and worked out approx 46mpg, giving an estimated tank range of 173miles. (see my previous post). I don't really hang around, and live in the twisty bits. ![]() |

Ride in london and see you mpg drop through the floor. I can, if im heavy handed get 105 to the flashing. If im gentle with mixed riding, i can see up to 160 to the flashing.
It all depends how you ride it. I have now strted kill switching the bike at certian sets of lights in london. I got an extra 20 miles out of my last tank of fuel. |
