I bumped into an SV rider on friday and he said to get a rear hugger as it stops the inside of the bike (shock and stuff) from getting dirty and rusty. How important is it to have a hugger? Trying to work out if I need to get one. I ride all year round. Is it a bit like the fenda extenda which you need because it protects the bike (radiator etc). Is it for esthetics that we don't get a fender with it as standard, or is it to save money. Just trying to work things out. All my previous bikes had 'normal/old-fashioned' mudguards.

If you take a pillion out in the wet, I'd recommend a rear hugger of some sort!

Didn't have one on my 650 and with the tailtidy fitted in wet weather I always had a very wet/muddy jacket at the back. Got a hugger on my thou and this isn't a problem now and it does protect the shock a bit more, but not massively. It's the OEM Suzuki one on mine and doesn't cover that much of the back wheel.

Thanks for responses. The OEM is far too expensive as I don't want to spend much on this bike. I'm not convinced you get anything back from it when you sell. So I'll be looking at an aftermarket one.
I wasn't sure why it didn't come with one, just money making I guess. |

Red fox huggers are quality... not expensive and are really good for what you pay for they do them in a carbon finish and im sure they do other finishes... try ebay for them or type it in on google well worth looking. I believe mine cost 70 quid i cant remember but that rings bells lol!

Take a look in the "What do you want" thread.
Sammy650 (drop him a PM) is offering Redfox huggers for £60. ![]() |
