Will re-spraying my silver SV in candy grand blue have any repercussions when selling it on?

Possibly.
At least you are simply changing it to another colour within the SV range rather than some race rep or other technicolour dreamcoat. It may well raise the questions of "Why the respray? Did you crash it? What other damage is hidden then?" |

Don't forget to notify DVLA as you'll need to get your V5 amended.

It will totally depend on the quality of the job. A rough respray with no graphics replaced will be undesirable. A quality job with phwoar factor will be much better even if it's not a factory colour.

It'll probably make it faster as well. Blue IS the fastest colour.....right?

Ta for the above, yes it does raise the question "did you crash it?" to which I would have to reply "yes" - which is why I won't have the original end can either and why the link pipe is dinked!
At least painting it blue, I get to finally have an SV in the best colour (in my opinion), that way making the best out of a bad situation. Always look on the bright side of life and all that.. |

I would not change the colour unless you are planning on keeping it for a few years. apart from your possibly twisted frame or yoke, it will raise too many questions.
I would probably keep it as a track bike and spray it stripy pink or tartan and buy another candy blue road bike. |

Well, my plans are to keep it another 3-4 years, by which time any issues over the colour change will have relatively little effect on the asking price, and if I trade it in then the effect will be even less important, if at all. A lot depends on whether the now off-centre steering will be easy/ inexpensive to sort out (one mechanic said all I needed to do was loosen the clamps and/ or yokes and re-align).
A tartan paint job? Hmmm... |
