TRE, has any body fitted one of these ? and do they work ?
The TRE (Timing Retard Eliminator) is a device that allows much better throttle response in the first four gears on all EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) Suzuki sport bike models. What the manufacturer has done is to make a separate ignition map for each gear. This has been done for either safety (Wheelies/wheelspins!) and/or emissions reasons. However, it limits the power and smoothness of your bike in the first ½ turn of the throttle in gears one through to four. Quick facts about the TRE:- The TRE has no effect at full throttle; The TRE does have an effect at throttle openings up to ½ in gears one through to four at any RPM; The TRE does NOT affect full throttle power - This has been verified on the dyno as well as on the road under controlled conditions; The TRE is legally for race use only. The TRE will work in all these models: Suzuki SV650 & DL650 (V-Strom) 2003 & up only; NOTE: All Timing Retard Eliminators comes with full installation instructions. Some cutting or splicing is required. ![]() |

From what I understand, it makes no real great differance; and anyway, if its only affecting the first half throttle turn, then just open the throttle some more, surely?

Yea, a few people have done this modification. It may have some use on the track, and possily works best in conjunction with a quick-action throttle, but I don't think it'll make much noticable differance.
Restrict your bike for 2 months to 33 bhp, then derestrict it....suddenly, 70 bhp feels quite alot! |

Don't think it has much of an effect on the SV, but on some other 1000cc bikes it has a much bigger effect.

stormer - i think your right there! I wonder what the power is "limited" too on say a GSXR1000 in the lower gears?
