Default New engine fitted in my company van-spot the schoolboy error

I had a new engine fitted in my van due to an engine mount ripping a bolt from or cracking the engine casing. It was done under warranty about a week or two ago and in fact it had two new engines as the first was noisy.

Driving along today and I suddenly heard clunking and screeching. I pulled over and found this:

Yes that's right. The engine mount on the NEW engine should be in that hole with the bolt through it. The bolt was done up tight and I can only assume they'd just rested the mount in the space or done up the bolt thinking the mount was all the way in. The RAC man turned up and put it right for me so it looked like this:

We checked the engine movement on the clutch in first gear with the handbrake on and it seemed ok. I asked the fella to follow me in case so I pulled out very slowly and got all of ten metres before some clunks and bangs and then lost drive. It had knackered the driveshaft/universal joint thingy too! (As well as bent the exhaust and the power steering pipe onto the pulley-that was the screeching. Oh and there are a few oil leaks now too).

It's not very good is it?!

I could only laugh and go for a pint while waiting for the subcontractor recovery firm to turn up (Who incidentally couldn't get an answer at the 24/7 lease companies phone where they were supposed to take the van so it's sitting in their yard now).

To make matters worse the lease company wouldn't let me get it taken to my local dealer and instead wanted it in Barking over the other side of London to me. Ho hum.

Venting over.

I wish Mark. They delivered another van to me half an hour ago. Haven't got any parts though and only a rucksak with a few tools in it. Yeah back to work as normal then!
