Default Total Pair Removal Kit

as title says, on chewy's web site..

anybody tried it on a k7-k8?

the blurb:
The pair system feeds air into the exhaust to aid in the combustion of unused fuel. The system was designed to improved emissions. The problem it causes is when using race cans or many aftermarket cans you can get a lot of popping through the exhaust and occasional backfire through the air box. The elimination of the system will fix this problem, and also saves weight. One way is to plug where the valve draws air from in the air box and leave the rest of the system in place, but this kit will allow you to remove the full system and save several pounds of useless weight.

worth a laugh at £30

Isnt the PAIR just for californian (american) models for sv? i know this is true for the curvy. its a seperate law in america which means they have to have it. unless the new uk models now come with it???

the popping is just due to unburnt fuel exploding in the exhuast, as he says, but didnt think the uk ones came with a system which did this for you. yourll allways have backfire with an aftermarket system unless you properly tune the engine smoothly

There is always going to be a bit of unburnt fuel in the exhaust as the act of shutting off the throttle cuts of the air supply (butterflys) and without air (oxygen) you can't have combustion. My understanding of the PAIR system is that it lets air into the exhaust side so allowing the combustion to complete. That's why another cause of popping and banging on the overrun is an ill fitting exhaust. I'm beginning to sound a bit technical here...which I'm not qualified to do, but i did look into the PAIR system to see if it impacted on performance, but apart from the weight saving it doesn't.

If you notice, on colder days, the popping is more noticable. On hotter days, not as much so. All CA models have the PAIR system. I am not certain if the europe models have it or not. It is very easy to find..look under your air box and look for two hoses that plug into one attached to your air box. You can connect the two hoses togther to try the bypass to see if it works for you, but don't plug the hose from the air pump just wrap some tape around it..and close off the end a little bit so water can't enter it..but air can escape..see what you find and lets us know.

actually fuel supply stops since you have injectors controlled by computer.
easiest and cheapest way to plug it is to take valve covers off, pull out hollow pins between cover and head and install solid pins.

unburned fuel since air still pumps in exhaust port even tough fuel supply stopped on intake side.
unburned fuel is there, with or without pair.

That's correct. You need to get rid of that unburnt fuel if the bike as the K3> 650 has a cat fitted in the exhausts end can. Remove end can for a race style then the PAIR system is redundant. This kit allows you to remove it.
