As some of you may know, me and the GF are off to the Dominican Republic in November, but in order to get a weekend flight we had to leave from Manchester airport.
This is half of the country away from me and I will probably travel up overnight to arrive between 5 and 6 in the morning. Do any of you helpful orgers know of anywhere I can park my car, near the airport, that is secure and will not cost me a kidney? Kind Regards |

Get the train. It will be cheaper and a lot less hassle. Go up the night before and kip in the departure lounge or a hotel nearby. If you book the train now, you should get it for cheap money. Its what i would do mate.

I know people have booked into nearby hotels for the night before their flights and been allowed to leave the car there for the duration of their jollies. I believe it's cheaper to do this than to pay for a fortnights parking at the airport.

Just had a quick look on PurpleParking (have used them before, tended to be the cheapest) and you are looking at around 50 quid for 2 weeks parking.
There are some hotels that allow you to park and leave the car if you spend a night, but not sure how much cheaper (if at all) it will be. Personally, I would rather drive up early, and be nice and tired so I could sleep on the flight - not much else to do! Not sure about trains, but I know its 5 and a half hours to Sheffield from Plymouth, and the cheapest return is around 35 quid - I'm guessing you would have to change trains to get to Manchester...? |

Purple parking returned a £35 quote for parking 15 mins away for 7 nights. Surrounded by a 7 ft fence with a 24hr manned hut at the entrance. How secure do you recon will that'll be?

I've used them, and seemed fine - how come you are so bothered about security? Have you got a high value car or summat Phil? - I'd guess it'll be more secure that leaving it at home (if its on the road)...

I live near manchester airport and see park n ride buses all the time, however, not needing to use their services I don't know much about them. I think though that one of them is called Shentons and they're based in Styal if you can find something on the net.
