Default Tonfanau weekend

Been to Tonfanau this weekend to watch the outcome of the Steelie challenge & to watch my eldest in his 1st race & my middle one do a bit more
Left Crewe on Saturday afternoon in bright sunshine, 3 hours later, in Wales with pouring rain I put the tents up &got the bike out for scrutineering to check out. They both passed without much to do. Had an early night, so we could get an early start on Sunday morning.
Woke up to a dry morning. I had a listen to the radio & weather forecast said we were in for a good day. 9am & it was time for practice.

Chris (the eldest)

Matt (the middle one)

Tankie, he was fighting for the championship.

Our Mike (a good friend of my lads) Could finish 3rd in the championship in his 1st year.

Bro, Mike's dad.

Bri, Bro's mate

Practice went well, now it's time for the fun to begin.

Race1
Tankie went for it straight out of the box, but on the 2nd lap he dumped it at the hairpin. He started doing a war dance at the side of the track, he scared the marshalls so much they didnt even ask him how he was, they just left him well alone. Championship lost Unlucky muck Ian Craven crashed out & handed 3rd in the championship to our Mike
My 2 lads had a steady race, Chris came in covered in water with an overheating bike, so time to fettle a quick clean of the radiator should sort it.

Race 2
Tankie went out to proove a point & won convincingly, I didn't realise a CBR600 was so fast. Mike went out & took the fastest lap, beating his dad.

Tankie (55) & Teddie (95), the 2 lads that were fighting for the championship.

Our Chris. The eldest.

Bri ..... On it. Not bad for 50 odd years old.

Race 3 and Tankie came in 2nd, only being beaten by an 883 Westlake. My lads came in 10th & 11th.

Bro & Mike (father & son) fighting for position.

Lots of racing to be watched, lots of new friends made & I nearly got drunk in the process
The after race party was mint. Tankie had chilled out, Teddie just kept rubbing it in about the championship, but everyone had a fantastic night getting to bed about 3.30am.
Our matt, looking the worst for wear lol

Tankie, Matt & Chris

Bri, chatting the women up

Enuff said lol

All I can say is that it was one of the best weekends I've had for a long time (Marches Meander not included ), roll on next year

You want to see Ian Craven. He is about 6ft 2inch, weighs about 22 stone, but by eck, he can ride a bike. Pity he highsided in the 1st race.
Tankie was saying that Ians CBR must be a 900 to cart him around lol

It's certainly not a hard circuit to learn with only 5 corners/bends & all right handers, but you have to watch the sheep sh*t & the bumps & concrete put down to patch the track up.
Good fun tho & the lads in the unlimited class dont half give it some round there.

Oh no left handers, thats a good one for me to start on LOL.

Good pics there Colin, is this the track you were telling me about on the MM? You have to prep it before you race.

Yup, that's the one. Sweep up the sheep do do & put out the hay bales then at the end of the races put the bales & the rope away so that the farmer can have his field back

That looks like you had a top weekend, well done to your lads.

I really must sort some race bodywork for my steelie, if only to give the local traffic coppers something to stop them thinking about when their next doughnut stop is when they see it on the road.

Looking at maybe getting a Steelie, or Hornet for next season. That's if my track day on the CB goes OK in October, they are such a friendly bunch of people.
Roll on October I say
