i seem 2 have a very small oil leak coming from around the front sprocket area i think its just above the front sprocket and just before i start 2 strip it down 2 find the problem has anyone had the same thing in the past??? if so wot will the problem be?

Oh and its a pointy sv650.
and before anyoen asks it hasnt throwin the chain or anything for ther 2 be a hair line crack in the case. also it only really happens when you have started and stoped the bike and you get about 2 drips once u have stopped the engine. ![]() |

Mine does that all the time but I use old engine oil to lube the chain which explains it.Have you checked the front sprocket nut?If this comes loose it can allow the output shaft oil seal to leak.
Also check the rear cylinder to airbox breather pipe.If it has come off it can drip a bit of oil.

defo not oil of the chain its pure engine oil.check the sprocket nut all fine apart from checking the nut havnt done much more yet just thought id ask 2 see if any one new wot it would be rather than me hokeing about trying 2 find it lol

Theres a crankcase breather pipe just above the engine sprocket (well there is on a curvy).
If you've had the airbox off, theres a chance this pipe has come adrift. Oil mist gets pumped out of the crankcase and condenses on the frame and underside of the fuel tank etc then runs down. Could be the cause? |
