Hi all,
I took delivery of my new sv sport on Friday. One thing I have noticed is that the bike runs slightly hotter (high 80's to low/mid 90's degrees C ,and the fan cut in at 104 degrees c in slow traffic, although the temp dropped back to mid 90's when I was on the move again.) than my old K3 sv650s(high 70's to mid 80's). Can anyone tell me if this is normal for a K8? It also has twin spark plugs on each cylinder, and a sensor in the exhaust pipe just after the front and rear pipes join. ![]() |

My K3 runs between mid 80 to 90 on the commute to work and fan cuts in on hot days when stood in traffic and heading for 100 , seems normal to me . It may cool down by a few more degrees when the bike is run in and not so tight . Either that or you and me both have a problem LOL

Not sure about the K8, but my K6 generally hangs around the same sort of figures - 87 seems to be the temp it settles to. Did your old one have lowers on?

Depends, traffic, road conditions, ambient temperature etc etc.
Yours sounds about right. I wouldnt be worrying about it if I was you.

Thanks for the replies, I feel better now. Also my K3 didn't have lowers. Here's hoping for a dry weekend to put some miles on the clock.
![]() P.S So far I've fitted a fenda extenda and a Pyramid hugger in black, and I have a set of R&G crash bungs on order and the bike's colour is the metallic grey. Last edited by stevie; 10-09-08 at 09:28 PM. Reason: Want to add extra sentence. |

I hope you haven't got a problem with temp, cause if you do, so do I! Mine seems to run between 80-90 normally.
