i over took a lorry coming out of a 70mph into a 60mph doing 75mph and crossing chevron lines as i looked over there was a traffic cop coming the other way i know he saw me , i then took the next left hand turn which was only a few hundred feet down the road and sped off i dont know if he turned round after me . i know he cant do me for speeding but he can for chevron lines, do they have cams in the back of there cars which could take my plate number. im worried cause if i get 6 pionts im back down the test centre , iv onley had my licence for 13 months .

Traffic cops tend to follow and pull.

correct me if i'm wrong but there isn't anything wrong with entering chevron lines as far as i'm aware (edit :: providing they aren't straddled by SOLID white lines).. providing the road is clear and you aren't being dangerous 'per se'...
the picture below shows the markings in red..if your markings you refer too are the same type but in white AND aren't solid white lines, you'll be fine anyways. If they look exactly the same, then yeah, you might have been fodder for a 'chat' ![]() Last edited by Welsh_Wizard; 18-09-08 at 07:11 PM. |

You are not allowed to enter the chevrons in the image above, they have a solid line around them!

![]() highway code 109: 109. Areas of white diagonal stripes or chevrons painted on the road. These are to separate traffic lanes or to protect traffic turning right. • If the area is bordered by a broken white line, you should not enter the area unless it is necessary and you can see that it is safe to do so. • If the area is marked with diagonal stripes and bordered by solid white lines, you should not enter it except in an emergency. • If the area is marked with chevrons and bordered by solid white lines you MUST NOT enter it except in an emergency.

just needed to know what the OP classed as 'chevrons'. The lines in the image, or the arrows you get when a slip road joins with a motorway/a road.. ![]() |

I would go to the local nick with your licence, insurance and some vaseline. Bend over and let them teach you a lesson you naughty, naughty boy. Don't do it again!
