Default Advice on buying please.

My mate is buying an SV today. The thing looks great, well looked after, good condition.
2001, Naked, with scorpion can, bellypan, etc..
£1000

BUT...55,000 miles on it. Is that too much? At that kind of mileage what do we need to look out for. What would be costly issues?

We are due to go see it in about an hour, any replies would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Were they mainly motorway miles, what is the service history like? How many owners?

2 owners from new. Daily commutes of about 20/30 miles.
Says full service history. HPI checked. Very nice looking, clean, great paint.

Great paint could mean it has been repainted but then it could mean it has been very well looked after...

Mileage isn't a problem with the SV's, they are good strong engines.

Probably worth getting then, mileage isn't a huge problem, it's more a case of how it came about and regular commutes are kinder than weekend thrashes!

Thanks, I will ask these questions.
Will probably end up getting, pending a test ride. At £1000, any problems won't soct too much to fix. A 2nd hand engine is about £200!

As the others have said, look for signs of regular TLC / Maintenance and it should be OK, At that milleage ask about eletrical problems to, especially rubbed through wiring looms.

Also I think its a little high on the price. I sold a K1 SVS with FSH for £800 last year. So I'd be looking to haggle on the price.

Way overpriced, it's worth about 700 quid max with taht mileage. You can find some nice 2001 regd average milers for 1200 quid if you look around.
