Hi All,
I've just fitted my Akrapovic, took a while but seems to fit ok, my question is how essential are the two springy bits that hook onto the rear cylinder ring? I couldn't get them to fit once I'd got it in place, that was a nightmare in itself. from what I could see though they are just there to make getting the bolts into the cylinder head really awkward? or do they do something really useful? It doesn't look like they can really hold anything more than the tension already in the pipework anyway. They went on the front ok but only because I could get enough leverage to force the ring with the bolt holes into place. It sounds ace now though ![]() Last edited by Brettus; 11-10-08 at 05:55 PM. I would say to try and fit them as they are meant to hold the exhaust together, saying that though I don't think I've got them on mine and it's never fallen off

I've got them on mine, I thought that you tighten the plates up then the springs tension the exhaust against the port and without them it may leak. I could be wrong and I'm guessing you have a pointy anyway.
You can _just_ about see one of them fitted here. (in case anyone is wondering I've only got Akrapovic downpipes) Druid

Hmm not quite like that tool but have the hook knife on my leatherman. I just can't get them to hook onto the top. Might have another go later, thanks for the advice guys.
