Default I assumed all monitors were DVI these days?

I've had a 19" LG L194WT monitor at home for a while now ... its been a great little monitor ... but I get bored easily and fancied a new one ... as I liked my LG so much, thought I'd go for another one ... so went and got this puppy 22" LG - W2242S-PF

My LG L194WT is DVI, and you know, its a coupla years old now, DVI is not a big thing any more is it? So I didn't give it a second thought when looking at the specifications ....

Anyhoo, you prolly guessed it, when I cam to plug it in ... its VGA only!! ...

Gutted!!

Especially as my graphics card is duel output DVI and now I have to use a sh1tty adaptor to get my monitor working ... and as it is VGA it isn't as 'sharp' as my old monitor

Anyway, as I said, I am stunned to not find DVI is standard these days ... or at least DVI AND VGA on every monitor ...

There is nothing wrong with it, so I am not sure I can take it back ...

Dude, technicaly it is...

True most people wont notice but somtimes on some monitors, fine lines are not pixel perfect when running VGA on a TFT. Also 1pixel white/grey does not work correctly though VGA and needs clock to be set manualy.

Indeed ...

Anyway, my point was that I thought DVI would be the 'norm' by now ...

Like you wouldn't give a second thought to if a car is Fuel injected now would you?? ... you would assume ALL are as it is a well established and 'better' technology!!

I guess its like scart inputs and USB inputs...its not if something has them, its how many of them are present.

Still, always best to check before you buy something...don't take anything for granted

Although I do expect every modern car to be running fuel injection. And most modern bikes aswell, for that matter

I do not know what any of this means.

I have a twenty inch monitor rescued from the recycling offrom a Civil Engineering company, it was used for producing drawings of houses they wanted to build, but to me it is just another monitor. They were quite happy to see it go and even dropped it off for me. Mind you I was dating the senior Estimator (I never did understand what he did for a living either) at the time...
