Default car tax question

My car has been SORN since i've been unwell. OH has just applied for a new tax disc online, and paid for it. However, it can take up to 4 days to arrive.

Can I drive the car in the meantime?

Yep... didn`t you get an email giving you a reference number? I taxed online after my tax had run out and was still able to drive even though it took 2 days for the tax disc to arrive

Yes, print off the confirmation email and carry it with you just in case. The police can call it in and get the full details if they wanted to.

As others have said, you can drive.

Just be aware that if you get some pedantic jobsworth, it's an offence to not display the disc. No points, but I believe it's a £60 fine.

That would only really happen though if you were stopped for some other reason.

That must of changed very recently then! It wasn't long ago that I was threatened with it.

Apologies for the inaccurate info above then.

Thats where mine was at the time!!

Based on Pete's information, yes, you're OK. So long as you can actually show it, I don't see the issue.
