Why would someone take this course and what does it lead to???
I'm just curious that is all. Has it got something to do with a competition license and what exactly do you need a competition license for...which competitions???

Depends what training you are talking about.
I have an ACU membership, and did the ACU Road/Race Marshall training course with CRMC. Get you discount at a few place and means you can marshall anywhere for anyone. Do you mean the ACU race licence.....surely pointless unless you plan to race, and involves taking exams and stuff.

I think so. I am not entirely sure. I hear people talking about Minitwin championships and things like this though, where amatuers can compete against each other. Would you need one of these ACU race licenses to compete in something like this???

Yes you would need an ACU race licence to run in the minitwins championship... plus a race bike and a lot of money to burn! HTH

Yeah I do, I race in the BEMSEE minitwins series. I did my first year last year and finished a repectable 6th rookie. Going into my second year this year. I had enough of road riding and I was either going to end up hurting myself, getting banned or even worse hurting someone else. So I decided to go racing. Its expensive beyond belief but worth it.

Its about £250 a weekend in race entry fees.
£125 for the friday test day. £250 per weekend for a set of tyres. £150-£200 in fuel for the weekend. Thats getting to the track, running a generator and of course fuel for the bike. £50ish for food and beer for the weekend. Then of course you have the upkeep of the bike, oil changes etc. And then crash damage and any other unforseen costs such as things breaking and going bang. All the innitial cost of setting up, tyre warmers, generator, spares, race bike, stands, tools, van, caravan etc. The list is non exhaustable but you can make racing as cheap or as expensive as you like! |
