Default techies - recommend me a ...

wireless all-in-one printer/copier scanner. Hoping to pick one up in the sales

will be used at home, for small volumes. good print quality required (happy to sacrifice speed for quality). Dunno what else I should be asking - but economical to run and low environmental impact would be good. Price limit £100.

and may researching and responding to this small request bring great joy to my nerdy org. brothers who have fun doing such things!

  • lack of space to locate it near my workstation/dining table
  • we have more than one laptop operational in the house
any reason why we shouldn't?

We have a Lexmark Z1480 which is wireless, very plain and white, not too big and prints very well. That ink carts are about £35 for both and seem to last ages. Very easy to set up on the network.
Good photo printer, costs about £50 on t'interweb.

No I was just wondering if you were getting one just for the sake of it

If you are using laptops then fair enough. Blue pete's sounds ok

We've got an HP one (Photosmart something... they have changed the line-up now)

Works well with 2 laptops and 3 desktops, print quality is good, consumables are OK too. PC World (as a guide price), seem to be doing them for under £100...

I've found HP to be pretty reliable perasonally, though my current printer is ancient. Some friends have recently bought an all-in-one wireless HP but I don't know which model, they're very happy with it.

http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/ is useful, there are usually "expert reviews" links attached to the items. Trouble is there are so many models to choose from, especially if you go up to £100 odd. Ink running costs are key, I reckon, need to scout around on-line for ink suppliers like these for example.

HP are generally mint we use one at work - wireless, scanner & printer (and therefore photocopier) all in one, also takes various memory cards you'll pay a bit more for a wireless hp item rather than say the ones you'll see for £30 at morrisons...

www.Ebuyer.com are very good when it comes to stock & delivery times (and also usually price) hope this helps

HP are good but they've made a few dud models. Maybe worth running your final decision or top 3 past us.
