Not for the SV but an old banger Transalp.
Is it advisable to replace both sets of (front) pads at the same time? Some idiot spewed brake fluid over one set ![]() As with all techy questions I ask please answer ONLY if you definately know your stuff. I think I know the few to trust. (Please forgive me Uncle but I want to get the bits ordered up) |

Advisable: Yes, but only because it means that the wear rate should be even between all your front pads. Personally I've felt that pads at the end of their life don't feel quite as good as when they're new, and they all seem to run out about the same time so get replaced together.
I'd probably say if the pads are worn past half way, and you can't clean the contamination out of the existing pads using brake cleaner or similar then I'd probably do both calipers unless money was particularly tight. If the pads in the other side were pretty new I wouldn't bother. Mostly I'd be trying to clean up the existing pads using brake cleaner or putting them in a bucket of boiling water to see if that got it. Jambo

If they haven't been soaked in a bucket of fluid all week then they should be useable.
Otherwise, it's advisable to keep them matched, but not really essential.

Yep, not essential to replace both but sensible. And for the price of a set of pads off fleabay or similar, i'd do em anyway. I think new pads do seem to have more bit (but that could by psycological).
