Here's one way to get the day off work
SVrich v's Minibus

Anyway, on the way to work this morning I was passing some almost stationary traffic in a jam about two miles long, and a minibus-taxi decided he would pull out in front of me to do a u-turn. Fortunately I was only doing about 20-25 mph. I hit the brakes (straight line), dropped the bike, slid between the front and rear axles, got pulled along for another meter before the driver stopped properly almost getting my head under a wheel, and came to a rest with the bike firmly wedged between the wheels and me (somehow) on my feet already with my helmet and glove off calling the police and telling the driver he should take more care looking where he is going (ok, I think I swore quite a bit too!). The minibus stopped at 90 degrees to the road, on the opposite side of the road.
Paramedic checked me over and gave me the all clear, just a stiff shoulder and elbow where I hit the minibus.
And the bike, well see for your selves. The police and driver used his jack to lift the minibus and pull it out! It looks to be mainly plastics shattered and a couple of foot pegs etc, the usual suspects, but the insurance assessor is going to check it over and let me know what the diagnosis is.
I feel lucky that it wasn't worse.
Pics of bike once removed and of the gouge mark in the tarmac where the bike and I were dragged along.
Ride safe people.

b***dy hell ! you were lucky there - if he'd have panicked and hit the wrong pedal that could have been well nasty for you !

sounds like his fault and you did the right thing - just wait on the insurance.

Glad you're ok

Cheers.
The insurance solicitor bloke who called this afternoon said it would be his fault as he crossed into the other lane which I was already in. It would have been his responsibility to fully check his way was clear to proceed, which he obviously didn't do.
On top of the bike damage I'll be needing a new set of textiles inc gloves, and a new helmet. The helmet damage was from where I was dragged! So any suggestions gratefully received.

Pookie,
Hopefully it can be fixed, it was looking lovely after its recent new lowers and resprayed tank But on the plus side, the ART can doesn't have a scratch on it!
I price the bike value at about £1700, and the plastics alone to be replaced at about £800. Then there's the labour and all the other bits, not counting if the forks are bent. So it could be a close call

Bugger. You are OK though that is the main thing. I'd say that bike is a right off fella unfortunatly. FG1 from the Thames Valley section had his mint K5 (maybe K6??) written off recently for less damage than that. If you like her though you could no doubt buy her back and do an ebay jobbie.
