Default False neutral between 5th and 6th - be concerned?

Hi all,

Just after a bit of reassurance I suppose!
Last weekend whilst out and about I got my first ever 'false neutral'. IIRC it was between 5th and 6th. Now I am a bit concerned that something serious could be wrong? Should i be worried??

Oh and just to add i have seen before, here and elsewhere, people saying to 'not forget to put the sump plug back in' when doing an oil change and I have thought how daft would you need to be to do that.
Doh - guess what I did!! realised after the first litre though.....

Also 21 Nm doesn't seem very tight for the sump plug? I left it alone as don't want to strip the thread but its sooo tempting to tighten it.

false neutral hummm, has it only done it once? sump plug only needs nipping up DON'T chance over tightening it.

yep only once, although i have never really thought the gearbox was up too much - having said that my dad had a go a while back and he thought it was ok.
Had the bike since new and if anything reckon i was too easy on it durinmg run-in.
If i am lucky enough to get another brand new bike one day I have decided to not thrash it but not be 'too careful' either.

If its only done it once then I wouldnt worry to much TBH, just check the oil level is correct and also that the chain tension is correct to as both effect the slickness of the gearchange.

I'd echo what Kwak zzr said about not over tightening the sump bolt to.

cheers all. suppose will just monitor it and see what happens - can't do much else!!
And will leave the sump plug alone.

You think the SV box isn't so good? Try a Kawazaki!

Yeah, a false neutral or two isn't anything to worry about. Chain tension is the usual culprit as others have said.
