Default Up-grading the handling of a SV650S

I want to up-grade my sv's handeling. Can I change the springs in the forks or should I go for a entirely new front end (eg a gsxr's front end) I have a limited budget. I just use it for road use, no racing.

Fit a quality aftermarket shock,(Hagon are good for the price), and fit linear springs and 10w oil. There isnt enough fork travel for progressive springs to work properly, the travel only uses up the soft part of the spring so it doesnt feel to much firmer than standard,

never knew that, my progressives don't feel bad though.
Doesn't the weight of the oil depend on the rider though?

dunno why you'd think that. I've got Hagon throughout on one of mine(progressive front 15W oil), and the handling is an absolute dream, they compliment each other considerably, in comparison to stock bouncy castle. Plus the SV knock, is muted to practically nil.
I've got linear in the other, and I'm not only keen on them at the moment.

If you can turn a spanner then go for GSXR bits. If not, go for a set of springs.

I wouldn't bother with an emulsion type shock, I think £250 is well over the odds for what is a pattern part.

As for progressive springs and travel, your preload is not set right ... but yeah I would go for linear.

Is shimming them up the only way to set preload chris?

Get K2 fork tops with the preload adjusters.
