Since the Org is such a vast and friendly palce I thought I'd ask for some assistance.
I have a 30gb iPod video that I bought new in August 2007. I went to turn it on yesterday but it wasn't have any of it. 'No worries,' I thought, 'probably just needs charging'. So I got home and connected it to my Alarm/clock/radio/iPod dock which charges it. I noticed when I put it in that it didn't turn on as it should. Now it just won't turn on at all. I've heard Apple manufactur their iPod batteries to only last a couple of years or so, so is that the problem or is something wrong? I've been using it with the iPod dock/alarm since December 2007 and I wondered if this has anything to do with it because there are times when it just gets left in the dock for quite a long time. Thanks in advance |

have you tried reseting it. Google for how to do it as I cant remember IIRC it involves holding down the middle button and the play button and then it'll show the apple icon on the screen and then if you wait it should power on after that.
My ipod mini did that a few times and reseting it always fixed it.

I'll try it when I get home, cheers.
If not I've found some places that fix them. But I'm not that fussed either way 'cos I want an Archos 5. I'm not really that keen on iPods and I want to get rid of iTunes |

ahh yes he's quite the apple expert isn't he. Can't tear him away from their technology bless him.
Like fizz said, try a hard reset. Doubt it's the battery. .....Should have bought a generic mp3 player ![]()

There's an ipod software updater program available free from Apple, it's meant for updates etc but it can also be used to reset your ipod if it's gubbed.
I can't remember the name of it, but it'll be available from Apple's website I'm sure of it. |
