Hey strangers...not been about for a while hope you are all well...and hello to all the newbies i've missed!.
right then.....im trying to make a header for my website..and err...failing miserably....you can see my attempt at www.babysfirstcalendar.com , although im happy with the layout its mainly the colour just looks poor quality. i have illustrator and photoshop but these are new to me and I dont really have the time at the mo to learn how to use them.... id imagine its a quick and simple process for someone who knows what they are doing, could anyone knock me one up? help a brother out? if anyones in a good mood and fancies doing a good deed today pm me or reply on here...thanks dudes ![]() Last edited by Dappa D; 18-05-09 at 10:53 AM. |

Layout/colours look okay to me.
What format is the image... .jpg? Try with a .gif or .png instead and see if this improves things (watch out for the file-size with the .png though, although you should be okay in this case) ![]() |

+1. It looks OK to me other than the images.
Some of them seem to be a little grey/cream coloured where they should be white (HTML #FFF). This could be because, as Jabba says, the images are in the wrong format, or it could be that they need a little image manipulation to tidy them up. You should be aiming for approx 72dpi for images rendered in a browser, anything higher will just be lost. |

![]() But Baph is right, make sure your images are sized correctly for both file-size and clarity purposes. If they are too big then they will be "squashed" by the brower and you are then reliant upon the viewers PC to handle the images. If you use a gif image then try to go for "web-safe" colours. Your image editor will probably prompt you about this. |

I take it you still got an original header saved as something else other than a jpeg? as just saving the jpeg as a gif etc will not make it any sharper im afraid

Also once you have created the website fully use
http://validator.w3.org/ to validate all of your code, it will tell you whats wrong and also gives you the corrections ![]() |
