Default Siezed rear caliper?

About 1500 - 2000 miles ago i replaced my rr pads with some normal EBC ones as one of my pads had worn more than the other, i have now noticed that my rr pads have worn more than half, now i do use my back brake a lot but surely they shouldnt have worn out in the mileage i have done, i have stopped using my rear brake unless in slow traffic or filtering but they seem to look worse, my rr disk is also wearing out as well, i have noticed that some times the bike seems like it isnt pulling as well, could it be that they are sticking? I will get the caliper off tomorrow and have a look just after a bit of knowledge and advice really.

Thanks

Isn't that just a strip them and wire brush the pistons and bung em back in thing?

Take it in bits, only one piston so nice and easy. Clean it all up, I don't use wire brush on the piston just brake cleaner and scotchbrite.

Indeed a wire brush on the caliper body perhaps, once the seals are removed, but don't use a wire brush on the pistons, As Chris says a scotchbrite pad if you must and made the strokes around the piston and not along it.

Cheers Mark.

yes, i would expect that with new seals (and fluid) your brake will be 10 times better.
there is a chance that you wont need a new seal, but with it being one piston, i think it will be quite cheap.

i am a little confused as to why this 'full rebuild kit' has 2 sets of seals though-

i think i need confirmation on the amount of rear seals!!!

p.s. be sure to buy this-

Hold up!

The rear caliper on the 99-02 bikes was a 2 piston caliper, the ones from K3+ are a single piston caliper and totally different.
(This is why a full rebuild kit for the 99-02 bikes have 2 sets of fluid & dust seals, plus the caliper half joining seals)

Please don't order the above parts, they may well not fit!

For a K3+ bike use http://shop.wemoto.com/pictures.dyn?u=5835675qqq5828001
(Same price and picture, but that's not to say it's actually the same part)
