Figured I might as well throw my hat in the ring. No long winded explanations, but I'm happy to answer any questions.
Still need to finish off a few small details, like the speedo, might tweak the throttle cable routing a bit, and need a nut for the top yoke, but this stage is basicaly done. Next up is to fit the GSXR rear wheel and lose the fairing as it's looking a bit too FZ-6 at the moment. ![]() ![]() ![]() Front end is K6 GSXR600 with a k5 1000 top triple. Bars are from a Tuono. It's is also fitted with a ZX6RR rear shock and GB Moto rearsets. The brake lines are from Hel (really nicely made and very helpful folks -order and they arrive the next day). As a guess I ordered them as SV650N length, with GSXR banjos. It worked out fairly well, but the left side is a little bit snug (although still enough there at full extension). I may replace this with one maybe 10-20mm longer at some point down the road if it starts to cause any issues (rubbing etc). Last edited by CheGuevara; 10-06-09 at 09:04 AM. |

Did you get round to doing your speedo yet? I'm still swaying on what to do with mine. I really want it completely hidden so looking into the front sprocket method.
Funny thing is i'm not missing it! |

I haven't actually -but the bike is on blocks while I've been measuring up the back wheel, and sorting out the other bits like brake lines etc, so haven't had a chance to ride anyhow.

Spent an easy 5hrs on the weekend trying to bleed the front brakes - what a nightmare! I just could not get the M/C primed! I did my KTM today and that only took 15 mins in comparison -typical.
I managed to do the speedo conversion yesterday using the Honeywell hall sensor. I had no need for a bracket and just attached it directly between the fender and forks at the upper front left fender bolt, and spaced out the lower bolt to match with a few washers. I rotated it in line with the magnets and it works perfectly (other than I need 4 more magnets) and it's almost completely hidden from view. The magnets I used were the countersunk variety. They're just sitting in place now with no mechanical connection as I'm having a hell of a time finding M3 countersunk head bolts :s Anyhow 70mph+ today and the 4 that are in there don't seem to have moved. Today was my first ride with the new front end. I rode it to work: not the most exhilerating route granted, but it felt really good.

Looks like you've run the throttle cables along the same route as I had to. Have you used tank risers to ease the angles? I ended up making a new bracket on the throttle body but it's still not ideal.

I've actually changed that slightly now (I found I got some binding with the top nut installed) - and run the lines in basically the same route, but not under the bars (or between the bar-risers). It's basically an unimpeded path from the brake fluid reservoir to the tank.
I haven't used risers under the tank, but I get zero binding with this routing (throttle snaps back at full lock in either direction). That said I'm riding it with the expectation that it could present an issue and I will likely spring for longer lines soon (if only for peace of mind). The lines from streetfighterstore.com seem pretty expensive, so I'll be looking for cheaper alternatives, possibly including making a set or having some made (surely it can't be rocket science). I've read that the N lines won't work due to the fitting on the TB-end, but wondering if it might be possible to modify a set. I've not actually seen the TB end of either S nor N cables so have no idea what might be involved. -Mike
