All they were doing was playing football. Why even bother them never mind start taking pictures of them that's just asking for trouble. |

Around my way, 'football' means 'kick the ball as hard as possible so it bangs off roller shutters, lamp posts and old ladies'.

All it says is playing football in the street, could mean doing nothing wrong, could mean bouncing the ball off cars in the street. I wouldnt be happy with that.
And in no way does that excuse them assaulting him. Send the little "£$$ down |

Says he was also taking pictures of them. If a stranger started taking pictures of me in the street then would make sure I got what ever he was taking pictures with off him at the least. |

if he's taking pictures because they are asbo's then no problems with that. If they were doing nothing wrong then they had no reason to do what they did. Are you saying that then assaulting the guy is all ok? I've lived in streets with little brats that loved to kick balls around but basically made a total nuisance of themselves. No respect for other peoples properties. Like i said i dont know what they were doing in this instance, if just playing football and not causing a problem then fine, he over reacted. But if they were being asbo's then he did the right thing. Worst thing in this country is people just letting kids get away with things cause they never learn any lessons.
More importantly how can assaulting someone cause they've taken a picture of you be acceptable??? that beggers belief. We're not on about some guy taking pictures of kids in school or anything dodgy like that |

I've had loads of damage done to various cars over the years. We were told by police that unless there is evidence i.e photos of damage being done there is nothing they can do about it. |

exactly. we had a problem years ago. nasty family in the street that let their kids run riot. They put a brick through my uncles windscreen on his car cause he'd told them to be careful with their ball. My grandfather went out to tell them to bugger off as we called the police. They gave a load of lip back and went. After the police visited us they then went to see the family. They then came back and said the kids had accused my grandfather of hitting the one girl!!! lying little £$%%. The police left it like that and just said to try to get along with them! It was a small culdesac and in the end alot of people just ended up moving away. Total scum

If all they were doing is playing football he probably wouldnt have got involved.
There is always 2 sides to every story. The location for a start sugests that there may have been trouble caused or potential damage to property. There is a time and place for everything...I doubt that the high street is the best place to play football ![]() Last edited by speedplay; 21-06-09 at 12:26 PM. |

well cops took video years ago of my lad and his mates (13-15years old) playing football with a beer can on the local rec. Each received £60 littering fines. Even the local councillor who was the grandfather of one of the lads was astounded that they went this route 6*£60, instead of saying "Oi put that in the bin".
So that episode made all the local kids very wary of anyone taking pics

Well it was his constituency so he should have been providing an area where they can play with balls with out the danger of hitting some ones property. Up here unless your willing to get 20 odd lads and lasses to walk away fromt he town centre and walk for about 45 minutes to an hour then your stuck with playing football in the street. Not every ones gonna walk that far out of the way so that 10 people in the group can play with a football for half an hour then walk back into town to get something to eat from maccy dee's and then walk back up to the field. His fault, he wants something done about it then he can get it done, shouting and taking pictures of kids isnt going to get anything sorted and from the way he sounded in the quotes they had of him he sounded like a right stuck up *****. |
