Default Reccomend me a tyre

Ok I desperately need a new rear tyre and it's payday on Monday so what do the mighty orgers reccomend.

I have currently got the standard Dunlops on and everyone says they are crap so what would better improve the feel of the bike.

A bit of info on my riding. I am no Valentino Rossi but would like something I know is going to stick and make me feel safe so I need something that performs well when not caining it.

I never ride in the wet and do the odd bit of motorway riding but most of my riding is on the twisties of the cotswolds which aren't very well maintained.

I am also a cheapskate so want them to be cheap to buy and last a long time.

Cheers guys

I'm guessing the front is still fine? (as you mention just a rear) Consider a Dunlop Roadsmart which is the successor to this tyre (The D220), so may work better than another brand.. seems like you want a sport touring tyre, one that offers the grip, but still remains fairly durable

But you have this choice, really -
Michelin Pilot Road 2 (most expensive)
Dunlop Roadsmart as said above
Metzler Z6
Continental Road attack (I have these, work well for me and I'm fairly aggressive with my corner speeds)
Pirelli Diablo
Oh yeah and the Avon storm! my bad

Basically any sport/sport-touring you'd like.

However some will say you should stick to matched sets, so in that case maybe another D220 on the back. It depends how much you have left in your front. If you're going to need to change it within 1500-2000 miles, then choose another tyre. (Because although you wouldn't change the D220's for the sake of it, there are far better tyres out there, I'm sure you can manage for 1500miles on mismatched tyres, not like you're doing a trackday)

If you have another 4 or 5k in your front, then get another D220 and replace both as a pair when the front is gone.

The front is okay but I think I might change that as well.

You forgot the very popular Avon Storm ST.

To the OP, take a look at the threads in here, loads of good information about various tyres.

Bridgestone BT-021 and Maxxis are worth a look as well... I got quotes t'other day. Set of 021's fitted £220, Maxxis (can't remember which) £178 - gives you an idea.

I used to have conti road attacks, changed them for Michelin 2CT's, sooo much better - like a new bike, bit pricey tho, but I got a good deal so shop around, normally cheaper to take your wheels of the bike and get them done, or cheaper still do it yourself.

Hmm I'm very much leaning towards this! Not a 2ct front, or is that "too extreme"?
