Default Tank Range?

Im heading to france on my '99 SV next month, and im having the carbs done before it goes on its long journey.

Also put some new spark plugs in to help fuel economy slightly, and also giving the bike a 4000 mile service.

Ive had some crappy JHS carbs in since the bike was restricted - pulling about 85-100 to a tank. Ive put some new carbs in, and the fuellings messed up low in the rev range (something to do with pilots?) but anyways, im getting it sorted next week.

The question is this: If im keeping to 70mph on motorways, how much tank range in miles would i be looking at before reserve? (Also gonna put a 5ltr jerry on the back in case lol)

Fuelled up my pointy today 177 miles used just over 14 l (about 55 mpg mixture of dual carriageway , A roads and a bit of town work)

Would have thought curvy's would be about the same ?

Cheers Steveg

That certainly don't sound like you getting many miles from a tank.

Just got back froam a weeks trip to france and my bike was very economical.
motorway cruising around 160 till fuel light comes on.
other roads around 170 till fuel light comes on.

both means being able to get around 200 miles to a tank.

mine was restricted by the holes in the slides too, fuelling was really messed up and it ran really rich, my tank milege was down to about 95-100 miles to a tank.

After fettling your bike, do a couple of longish journeys & check mpg. You'll be a long way from help if it's not good.
Be aware French fuel stations may be credit card only ( & not all UK cards work with these ) & also they may not be open at all on Sundays.
Aren't I a bringer of doom & gloom ! AND...
Enjoy the trip!
