My Dad would have made do with bricks and wood instead of a paddock stand.

You could stick the rear wheel on a couple of rollers and leave the bike on the side stand.

I bought a pair paddock stands though.

I think it was BannanaMan (I could be wrong there) made a post on the forum showing how to use a bit of wood?

Could give that method a try !

There is a much better technique than rolling the bike up and down to lube the chain.
it involves using your sidestand as a prop and lifting the rear wheel off the ground while balancing it against yourself. BUT YOU NEED SOMEONE TO SHOW YOU HOW FIRST! Dont go running out there and trying it and then post up saying "that stupid advice made me drop my bike on myself" lol.

Once you've been shown it its easy enough to do but you do need to be a bit of a contortionist to be able to balance it, spin the wheel and spary the lube on all at the same time. But hey i can do it so it cant be that hard

Get your ex girlfriend to come over and spray the lube on while you perform the described contortionist act. That's what I do.

Hmmn, just read what I typed there. You know what I mean!

Yeh its a bit of a fiddle for sure. I have been known to cheat in the winter times and fire it up and stick it in gear to make it easier. And far more dangerous at the same time, lol, so dont do that whatever you do. Really not clever.

That wood prop thingy above looks like a fairly sensible solution i guess.
