Ive been looking at this this morning. Mine atm is 70-75bhm... Quite high really. Though I do think it might be down to dehydration and lack of sleep that its a little high so ill have to do a test some time when I dont feel like crap...
Anyway it put me onto thinking I wonder what other people's are... Id do a Poll but there are simply too many options Id need, age and range of heart rate... Anyway, if you want to state age, resting heart rate, size/fitness level and Sex then it might give us all an idea of what we should be aiming for. Try to be calm sat down and make sure you have had enough sleep and enough to drink as that can make a massive difference. Mine, Age: 23 , Resting heart rate: ~70 Fitness level: not good, slim Sex: Male EDIT can a mod move this to Idle banter... see told you I was tired^^ ![]() Last edited by ThEGr33k; 23-07-09 at 10:37 AM. |

How are you measuring your resting rate Nick? There is a specific procedure for getting your true resting rate. 70 is pretty high for a young man.

Resting heart rate should only be measured immediately after waking up, not after you've been up a while.

Mine is 72 at the moment, sat in front of my computer doing work, so not exactly resting. I'm male, 43 and reasonably fit, but have had a few late nights this week.

11 per 10 secs = 66bpm which is really good for me, 6 weeks ago it was 80. I think my dieting and gym regime is actually doing my heart rate really good. May even check me blood pressure soon, that is normally very high.
Porker - 17 Stone 3, reasonably fit-ish now. 66bpm Hypertension runs in the family, haven't been told I also have it but there is a worry whenever I go quaks with my BP. Last edited by plowsie; 23-07-09 at 11:08 AM. |

11 per 10 seconds = 66 also.
41 years old, 14.5 stone of love... when I was in Frimly Park just after a collaps lung op, my resting heart rate was 36 bpm... I was a lot fitter back in 1996 btw ![]()

Ive done some searches and apparently 70 is average... So considering I got 4 hours sleep, Im dehydrated because the water here on base tasted of filth (and there are no shops within 10 miles) my Sgt is telling me I shouldnt leave the RAF and I wont be able to get a job... I think its not too bad. As to testing, hold a pulse point (im sure you have to know one) and count the pulses in a set time... 10 seconds seems popular but the longer the better, then multiply upto what it would be for 60 seconds. Simples ![]() |
