Default numberplates, again

i was just wondering, if the new law, £60 fine for a non legal plate has made you go legal?

anything other than 9x7 is illigal, plus the letters have to be the right font

i have a 6x4, which i removed and fitted a legal 9x7, it does not look as bad as i thought it would.

im not sure weather to keep it on, or fit the old 6x4

both these plate came with the bike, but idealy i would go for a 7x5 plate, which is still illigal, but seems not to atract much attention

Ive gone legal as I cant be arsed giving the choppers any reasons to stop me, (he says with loud cans on) maybe less reason to...

all my bikes had 7x5 if they needed replacing, although the S4 and CB currently have legal sized ones at present, and apart from the odd time when DVLA do a purge at big bike meets I've never had a problem.

Cheers Mark.

Mine's about 5% under size, and my can's legal when the baffle's in, so providing I don't make an ass of myself there's a fair chance Mr Plod will ignore me. (I hope)

THERE IS NO LAW OR DEFINITION STATING THAT 9"X7" IS THE REQUIRED LEGAL SIZE and if I am wrong will somebody please tell me the relevant law or construction and use regulation.
The law defines the shape, reflective quality, font and spacing plus
the name of the manufacturer, meaning that if you have a seven digit number your plate will be bigger than a six or five digit number which can be a smaller plate but still conform to the legal requirement

I am definitely changing my 6x4 plate. its blatantly blurry obvious from any angle/distance that its not legal. IMO just not worth £60 fine

Going to get myself a 8x6... i had one on the SV and it really didnt look 'too' illegal...just better than full size (may even just shave my 9x7 plate down a tad to retain the required font size)

warning...derail
anyone know if no-plate light is a legal requirement?
derail over

I have a 7 x 5 and have had that on all my bikes, no need to go any smaller - looks silly for a start.

Thank you, saved me having a rant! It is about letter size and spacing not the size of your plate.
