Chatting to my dad about this the other day.
Now we know why Suzuki doesn't do this, to keep the costs down.. But has anyone done it themselves, turned an SV into a proper job? Upside down high spec forks/rear suspension, better calipers, slight engine tuning.... Has anyone made a "fast road" spec going SV? Something small and punchy, but with the kit and designer names to scare off the big boys? |

Dangerous Dave.
I and loads others, have done the forks & suspension. Don't think the engine mods are worth it. |

Many people fit USD forks (or uprated internals) and GSXR/ZX10 shocks. Generally upgrading the brakes goes with a USD conversion as you simply use the wheel that matches the forks..
There's many many threads about. ![]() |

Done lots of times. Dangerous Dave's would be the best example IMO.
I probably would've gone into tuning the engine by now, except I'm restricted so there's no point yet ![]() |

Several people also race sv700's which have had alot of engine work. Think you can get them with 85+ bhp

Engine tuning generally see's someone spending alot of money and using alot of time for not many power gains. Start with the chassis first then see how you feel about wanting more power...it might be cheaper to buy a TL1000s!

The best way of making more power from an engine is to increase the capacity and as Suzuki already make a similar engine with nearly 1000ccs why not simply use that and at the same time leave it wrapped up in the 'similar to 650' style frame?
Seriously though, I think for most people power is not what the SV is about, it does the job it's built for admirably well and has lots (relatively) of grunt. Start trying to make more power and you will and up with a higher narrower peak and loose the basic advantage of the SV. |
