Default Lockerbie bomber released

I'm usually a woolly liberal - but not on this.

I'm disgusted. Life should mean life.

Well, if ronnie Biggs is allowed free....

I've heard some of the Lockerbie families talking about the conviction & from what I hear some of them doubt that the correct man was convicted. If that is the case then I wouldn't want a man to die in prison if there is doubt to his guilt.

It was a political decision and stinks.

He was a terrorist who should have served his full sentence. The same goes for all the other terrorist released on political grounds, whatever cause they serve.

of course our UK legal systems are not infallible. If he was truly innocent he should have continued the appeals process.

... Oh, sorry, wrong villain

The conviction was always a little iffy, the main feeling seemed to be he was definitely guilty of *something* so probably best he goes down for it. Though that of course means the actual perpetrator may have gotten off scot free.

And I'd say it was the opposite of a political decision - the political thing to do would be to appease the red neck yanks and keep him locked up.

Every man and his dog are cuddling up to the ex-pariah Gaddafi. I wonder if Libya has any usable oil reserves?

I'll be you friend, Yvonne Fletcher, no never heard of her etc.

I love a good conspiracy and this whole story is one of the best.Ive never believed the official explanation for what happened and I dont believe this bloke did it either.
I doubt we will ever know now,as he had to drop his appeal to get out.Or not.Depending on which group of liars you want to believe.

I'm with kinvig on this-think he was jailed as someone had to be-if he was the man responsible he was acting under orders from gadaffi, but nowadays he's treated as a normal leader-madness
