Default fork grease question

Hi all,

Quick question for you. The grease that you smear on the stanchions - is it just standard multipurpose grease or is there something specific I should be using?
I remember when I got my Hyperpro springs it came supplied with a tiny amount of fork grease, but it's all gone now and I need to buy some more. I've searched all over for 'fork grease' but can't seem to find anything.

Anyone any ideas?
Cheers,
Dave

You smear grease on them Well I never knew that

Would a tiny drop of fork oil not do the trick?

I do it both to prevent corrosion and aid sliding the fork into the yokes. Oil would wash off too quick.

great stuff. Saves me a few quid too... I'd forgotten how expensive oil seals were straight from Suzuki!

I sue silicon grease when fitting new fork seals. Also put a plastic bag over the top of fork so you don't damage them as they go over the top lip. Insulation tape works good too.
