i live on quite a busy main road. i have a parking space in front of my house which most time i have to drive in front ways to cos of traffic. howver this morning when im backing out i spot a car coming towards me and stop.
im now half hanging in the road and the car goes on the wrong side of the road and around me. the cars following thme thought it was a good idea and all do the same. 300 yards down the road is a set of traffic lights which were red so all these people must have saved at least 10 seconds to their journey. one day they wont see seomthing coming from the other way and end up in a box. What is it with peoples urge to get everywhere and 100mph in life...... rant over |

Yep it's the same where I live too, on a main road. We have to drive past the driveway (which is also on a fairly steep slope, doesn't help...) then back up into the driveway. In the mere seconds between the car stopping and the reverse light coming on about 50 drivers behind us have already made the decision to swerve into the road, barely missing our car and the cars coming the opposite way. There's only been one collision in the past 10 years though which is good...

Yesterday the roundabout on the way into work was solid with queueing traffic, so much so that they wouldnt let people exit the roundabout through them for fear of losing their space in the queue.
Mentallers, most people. |

why not go out and reverse your car in to the space later at night when the roads are quieter?

I've thought of that problem before & thought that cars should come with a switch like indicators that let you flash your reversing lights to let people know that you intend to reverse. Maybe hazard lights would work ![]() *If it was me, I would just stop in the road ready to reverse & if the cars were too close for me to reverse, just get out & go in my house ![]() |
