I'd take a calculated guess at February.

If you buy one now, you need to be careful that Jonny Fairweather-weekender has ridden it all summer and then decided to get rid as it's not been maintained well and he'll get something different next spring.

January & February, the dealers are going to be feeling the pinch and will be "cutting-me-own-throat" with his prices, he's just hoping he can weather the winter until Easter, and hoping that Easter weekend is going to be a nice one, as from then on, he's got work to do and money to make.

Yeah I reckon the end of January , after the Xmas rush for "Cold Killers" and thermal type bits for xmas presents , they won`t have sold much in the way of Bikes . The only thing that probably keeps dealers on the go at this time of year is general bike maintenance duties and repair work .

I disagree with all of you, J2UK wants to really buy my SV now!

20 000 miles, 2000 S model. Good condition, with a little scuff on the tail fairing, just had new Avon Storms and C + S, recently powder-coated fork lowers, Motad Venom end can with original too. £1700?

'best' in terms of what? cheap price? or something else?

If you buy a bike now sure it'll prolly cost a bit less than in say April or May but you then have the financing cost over the winter and you mightn't be able to use it much. All very well having a nice new toy but if it's costing you in terms of purchase spend, road tax and insurance, depreciating and not being used in a damp garage or outside then you haven't gained very much, have you?

And the cost of a trickle charger/battery
(if you're not a winter rider that is)
