Default Home Cinema Upgrade.

Well we have 32"CRT TV and been waiting years for it to blow up or something so I can go get a plasma or LCD. The friggin thing just keeps going, so I said to the Mrs thats it. Im out at christmas to buy myself a nice new screen. Great she said, on one condition.....I buy her a Bose system to go with it!!!
Ok so we might not all like Bose, but I have heard and seen mates systems and am pleased with the kit. But Im reluctant because I dont see a BluRay player from Bose. So does anybody know how I can get my screen and BluRay and keep her sweet with some Bose gear?

Nah, don't do gaming at all. No time for such fun. Any spare time like that is in the garage with the RS or a bike to fettle.

I would not get a ps3 as a blu ray player anyway. I have a ps3 and a LG370 blu ray, and through the same HDMI, same 1080p telly etc, the LG blu ray has a noticably better picture. *Noticably*.

Sharp introduces HDTVs with Blu-ray built-in

5 December 2008 22:06 by Andre "DVDBack23" Yoskowitz | 9 comments
Sharp has introduced two new LCD HDTVs to the North American market, each of which has built-in Blu-ray burners and a second slot for playback of CDs and DVDs.

Sharp Electronics Marketing Company of America president, Mike Troett added that the "32-inch set features 720p resolution and a 7,000:1 contrast ratio, while the 42-inch set has a 120Hz panel with 1080p resolution and 15,000:1 contrast ratio. The new AQUOS DX-series HDTVs are meant to appeal to people who want or need a clutter-free appearance, minimizing the amount of hardware, or want a clean-looking, wall-mount installation."

The Japanese models of the TVs, which were released in October, have built-in dual digital HD tuners which allow users to watch a program in HD while recording a second program to Blu-ray.

Sharp added that using H.264 encoding with high bitrate would allow for 21 hours of TV to be recorded to a dual layer BD-50.

Prices have not been announced but it is estimated the larger model will retail for $1899 USD.

I work for an AV company and we are selling a lot of Sony BDP 360's at the moment, it's a nice little player at a reasonable price.

Be careful what Bose system you get. I have the 3-2-1 GS II which I find has serious limitations. Almost no midrange and when watching a movie, the loud scenes are too loud and the soft ones too soft meaning you constantly have to adjust the volume.

I've had a Yamaha (£250) AV Receiver with a pair of B&W (£150) speakers which out performed my current Bose (£1000). The only time the Bose comes through is when having a house party and you're trying to p!ss the neighbours off.

Of course, the other advantage to the Bose stuff is that the satellite speakers are really small, so installing them or locating them discreetly is pretty easy.

If I were going to spend that money again, I would get Onkyo's TX SR607.

It's £400 and gets great reviews.

Speaker wise, if you're after surround you could get these, but I would rather spend the same money on some better speakers like these and then expand to surround when money permits.

i would strongly advise agains amped speakers (amps in each speaker) get a good amp like my jvc hdmi swiching amp (can run any thing through it even vhs) and a set of speakers even with only 2 mine out perform most.... have a look at mordaunt-short speakers (i have some 20year old ones still sound mint) they sell sets with floor stands and stuf for proper suround sound, they even do 7.1 setups but they will cost about £1500+ but the quality is insane

http://www.mordauntshort.com/default.php?TID=1

http://www.petertyson.co.uk/ebuttonz...ni.shtml?fshop

EDIT while im on the subject i would also advice staying away from small speakers as the smaller the driver (bass pin/speaker) the harder the speakers has to work producing deap tones (no mid range) so the sub will be doing 50hz and below and the small satalites will only be able to do say 60hz(maybe even higer) and above so that leavs a big gap of sound where non of the speakers can cover so you lose half of the rance where as big saterlites(or floor mounts) can do from 50hz(where the sub tops out) and some times lower covering the whole range and then when the bass pins get about mid way 3/4 through the range the tweeter take over so you in turn get a full spectrum of sound

way over the top but was board lol so there :P

??
I've been through all the PS3 blu ray settings, making sure its 1080p, deep colour and anything else I can try.
It still suffers from occasional frame loss, motion artifacts whilst the dedicated blu ray player is perfect.
