Default Redundancy- go or stay

So a little bit of background knowlege, i work for a comapny whos had a hard year, my deparment has been shutdown, and my job role made redundant,
i was transfered into a new trail business deparment on a temp basis to see if i liked it or not ( well all 15 of us were),

this week we have to decide if a: we sign new contracts, take a £2500 paycut, ( i was on 16200, now going to just below 14, if i stay) or i get paid enough money to last 3 months if i leave,

now, im not to fond of my job, there going to be bringing in some very bad hours soon also, ( cold calling), the pay cut would have been fine in a way as they said they were going to make it up with commision, but with 4 days to decide, no one has been told, ( and yes ive asked) what the commision would be like. we also rely on a south african call centre to transfer us customers, ( 200) per day, but there operating at about 50 a day, and cant seem to get to a higher level, so that will drop our commision earnings.

also whilst im in a job i dont focus on trying to fijnd another job, but if i dont have one ill be looking far and wide,

so should i stay or should i go?

taking into account the current climate in the job market how confident are you you can find another job within 3 months?

that is the question you need to answer to make the right decision IMHO

fairly confident, lots of jobs out there around this area it seems,
got a few friends dropping cv's in their workplaces to,

3 months is what they pay me, got a futher 3 months of money in my savings but id rather not touch the "new bike " fund

something ill have to think about for the rest of this week i guess,

I would keep the job, find a new new one then hand in your letter of resignation, at the moment it is far wiser to get a new job still in a job so you go from one job to the next with no hard times inbetween.

Is 14k PA about minimum wage? (i don't know what the rate is now) if it is id be inclined to take the redundancy pay and just get another minimum wage job as fast as possible, it would be different if you enjoyed your job but since you don't like it anyway you got nothing to loose.

My reaction would be to take the money and run. It's what I did this year and while I am earning £9k less I now have another job.

I guess the sensible thing would be to keep the job but look for something else.

It took me 4 months to get this job and I only really got it as my sister in law works in the HR dept. I wasn't handed the job but my CV would never have been looked at had she not worked here.

Minimum wage works out as follows on a 37.5 hour week.

16-17: £6,961.50 pa
18-21: £9,418.50 pa
22 and Over: £11,310 pa

If it was me I would take the redundancy money and find a job as a xmas temp in a shop or pub work while I found the job I wanted.... means your redundancy money will last longer as you will also hopefully have earning still coming in.
