Default Women, gotta love them - Driving, not relationships.

Picture the scene, 11.15pm, park up outside Tescos in the car, in between two cars. Turning my ipod off been there a minute or so as I was talking to Kayla, clunk on my door and SCREEEEEEEEETCH. Turn round, to my horror, the lady parked next to me is trying to reverse out of her space using my car as a guide.

I get out the car, she winds the window down, I go 'I'll need your insurance details', 'why, theres no damage...'. I tell her she has had a female horse and to get out of the car and have a look, 'oh yeah'. I asked her insurance, 'don't know it', I ask her name and address, gives me a postcode that really isn't a postcode to where she stated she lives, I knew she was trying to pull a fast one. Last thing she says to me 'I didn't see you parked there'. I chuckled and walked off thinking what I should do because I was pretty sure she gave me false details. Low and behold, my mate Kev (Police officer who used to come and tell us off at young ages when we were drunk in the local villages) is at the door, he asks if I would like him to go and find out if she has, I say yes please. He comes back, she admitted to giving false details, she has all legit docs and stuff for car, but she has commited an offence, her excuse, I'm an intimidating looking guy and scared her, with Kayla standing with me.

He also asked how she managed it anyway, 'I didn't see him, and I didn't hear me hit his car because my music was on'.

Incident number, report to insurers, also tell them she has given false details and admitted it, silly girl.

Stupid moo

For future incidents such as this your camera phone is your best friend. make sure you get a picture of the driver behind the wheel so there is no way they can say "yes it was my vehicle but i wasn't driving it at the time"
You should do this even if you fully believe the details etc given to you, you know how people have a habit of changing their minds after the fact.

Oh dear, oh dear, the things people try to pull! Glad you got her all nailed down and finally admitting she did it and lied about it too. She should be punished extra for trying to lie and worm out of it.

It greatly f***ed me off for the rest of the night for two reasons:

1) I take a lot of pride in my car and it was damaged because someone failed to do the basics (silly i know).

2) It really is not a great reflection on some people that she gave me false details. When I bumped into the back of a man in Kaylas car a while back, I was truly honest and wanted to make sure everything was done properly, the other chap appreciated this and let me off giving him some cash for some paint, instead of taking it to Ford, getting clobbered for hire car charges and labour. The pendulum swings both ways.

Wellllllll, this gets better by the minute. Insurers asked me what I want to do, I said wait for arguments to settle get car repaired by Mercedes, they told me this was not possible, I told them it was, as I wanted my car back how it was before this stupid incident. So after much too-ing and fro-ing it got agreed.

Had my quote from Mercedes for the repair, just shy of £2k, for a feckin door New door and everything.

Emailed my legal guy on Monday to chase what has been going on, are we any further etc. His reply this morning...
Good morning,

I have today chased the third party insurers requesting an update. Whilst their engineer agrees your vehicle is repairable and will agree figures at the garage, they have yet to hear back from their insured about the accident itself.

It seems that the claim was set up based on my letters and since then, they have been unable to get hold of the other driver by either phone or letter.

Whilst I will continue to chase the insurers, I must advise that our hands are tied by the protocol period we have to allow them to make their investigations. This period is 90 days from the date we sent our letter of claim (9th of Dec).

We will keep you updated in due course.
So what's the craic after this 90 days then peeps? She's up the creek, or am I?

Her but it won't be within the 90 days.
Had a similar thing, guy ignored all communications - took 2 years to settle.

come on, you shoudl know that insurers are lame and that's a red herring.

She's insured and has admitted fault to the police - what's to argue? Stand up for yorself!

(btw, I was invloved in an accident where a bloke behaved similarly. Neither gender has the monopoly on stupidity and selfishness)
