Default Marathon

On Sunday April 25th I'm going to run the London marathon.

I've never run that far (26.2 miles) before so it's going to be a bit of a challenge to say the least. I've got a fair bit of training to do between now and then but I've already been working hard and putting the miles in.

However, I'm not taking part just for the personal challenge but will be raising money for BIRT, the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (part of the disabilities trust). BIRT offers specialist rehabilitation for people recovering from all forms of brain injury, whether caused by illness, stroke, or accident.

This charity is very close to my heart. In May 2009 my mum was diagnosed with a brain tumour. The tumour and surgery to remove it resulted in a brain injury. Luckily my mum is now getting brilliant care and rehabilitation from BIRT and is improving every day.

Please click here if you'd like to sponsor me to help support the work that BIRT does getting people like my mum back on their feet again.
