Default New rubber / Wet roads

Not been on the bike since Aug 2009 when i had my off,
I broke my knee cap in half, My bike is back up and running now thanks to YC and its got a GSXR front end now too, this morning i have had some new Avon Storms fitted at my home from a nice mobile tyre man. and really want to go out on the bike, becuase i need to start using it again asap as its my only transport, the snow has gone in manchester now, the roads are just wet,
I have never had new tyres before and have only had 3 months road experience on the SV650, and none of that has really been in wet weather,
Do you think i should wait too see if we get a dry day soon ,
or just go out and take it easy/slow ?

take it very, very, very easy. I did a wet day at mallory park on a pair of brand new avon storms, chicken strips were shinier than a shiny thing. I seriously almost binned it on the test (sighting) lap, going easy. I was pooing my self until I'd done a few sessions on them.

They say to do 100 miles to scrub the tyres in. Avon Storms make their way nicely from new in the wet. Just be extra careful, you don't need to be getting your knee down to scrub them in, gently away and you'll be right. I've run in enough sets in the rain to know....I may even get through a set from mileage and not nails!!
As DT says...what a difference a day will make...besides the snow may have gone but the damn salt won't have!

grit/salt (if that's what you meant...or were you thinking of corrosion?) reduces tyre grips by 33% or so I read in some car driving publication, worth considering.
Take yer corners easy! That's when you're most likely to bin it on new tyres (or so I've found)

Both of my last sets of new tyres Ive had to "scrub in" under wet conditions.

Take it easy, but there is plenty of grip.
