I think I may have an oil leak from around the gearbox sprocket or gear change shaft, certainly on that side in that sort of area anyway. Are the Curvys known for any particular oil seal fails around there? Assuming it is one of them how bad a job is replacement?
Many thanks. |

I've read somewhere about it running from one of the shafts or possibly clutch pushrod out of the engine (read it on here I think). Might be worth taking the sprock cover off to have a gander.

It could be worth checking that you haven't adjusted your chain too tightly, or at least one part is less stretched than the rest.
Reason I say is because I developed an oil leak from the sprocket area and it was the rubber sprocket seal that had moved enough to let oil out, after the chain had been adjusted. Brand new chain but half of it decided not to wear at the same rate as the other. Was a head scratcher at the GM last year. Sat on the bike and the chain went so tight there was no movement. Backed it off and it has been fine since, as the sprocket seal re-seated itself.

phnar!
NO cheeky git!. It was just the way the chain had worn in. Badly adjusted in the way it had only been looked at on one half, and we thought it needed it. The other half was too tight....suprised it didn;t do a Gr33k and snap on the motorway!

Its ok for you, you have arms like apehangers..long!!
I knows you're kidding. But it wasn't me that adjusted it. It was Carnivore. Mind you it was him that told me what it was straight away, as soon as he saw the leak, without even looking at the chain. The evidence only backed up his first guess..jammy git!

Scottoiler turned up too high?
I;ve had this before where it's collected behind the front sprocket cover (still wet) and then dripped down looking like an oil leak. Don't start you engine with the clutch push rod removed as it squirts out everywhere (D'oh) |

Its definitely engine oil thats coming out. I cant work out if its the gearbox seal or the clutch pushrod one? I'll clean it up at the weekend and see which one it is. What sort of job is replacing these?
