Default Are exhausts bike specific (other than link pipes?)

My local dealer has a number of cans for sale at a discount. However, none are ofr the SV. I realise I'd need a link pipe (does anyone have one for a reasonable price for a K3?), but surely any can would fit as long as the pipe is the same diameter? The dealers have told me that it is nigh on impossible to get link pipes and the can's are made to only work with specific bikes.

Whats the truth then - I'd happily pick up a new carbon Scorpian can for £25!

In other words the dealer cant be ar$ed to find you a link pipe

If they are 52mm slip on cans then any will fit providing you get the correct link pipe, if they are bolt on how ever im sure there are adapters out there to turn bolt ons into slip ons

Link pipes used to be obtainable from Carbon Can Co.

I am not an expert but I have always been under the impression that after market cans are bike specific (different bike types/models have differing requirements for back pressure and other technical stuff).

I may pop back there this evening - I assume they will have sold out by now, but I guess I could just flog it on. I'll make sure it is 52mm then. If they have more, I'll let you know where afterwards

As i guessed, the carbon scorpion had gone. I took a punt on a S/S Venom can for £25 with a link pipe for a VFR 800 FI. Missing a strap tho. They have a SS Venom with link and strap for a (I think) 2001 R1 too and another Venom SS, but it's bolt on - I think for a GSX-R 600. Both £40. All are Not for Road Use stamped and bafflesless.

Had a look on the bay and see that VFR link pipes are over £25, so worth a punt. Anyone got a K3 link pipe or strap? Should sound better than my aluminim road legal can (though it has cost an extra £10!).
