Default Steel or titanium exhaust can?

The exhaust I'd like is available in steel and titanium...

Will I realistically see any benefit from buying the titanium one? Obviously it'll be lighter but is it worth paying as good as twice as much for. Considering the bike is just for road use and not a racing machine.

Thanks guys.

Toby

Both my OH and myself have titanium cans from Beowulf. They have a softer greyish finish where the steel cans are a brighter finish. Weight wasn't a consideration for us.

The titanium will knock 1/10th of a second off your daily commute meaning you can have a longer lie in

You won't see any difference for road use. Doesn't mean you shouldn't get the titanium - I just fitted a carbon fibre can yesterday but it's of no practical value. If you like it, and have the cash, get it.

Stainless is easier to clean and polish small marks out of. If you really want to save weight and money, get the stainless and have a big dump before you go out. Should save a pound or two!

I prefer stainless on the SV, kinda goes with the bling polished rims and custom yokes etc etc, really good to clean up and polish after a good splattering of cack off the road!
I am thinking of going titanium for the Raptor as that has no shiny finishes anywhere on the bike.

Not sure how the titanium cans fair if you accidently fall off and accidently have to stubby them either!

Suppose it depends on what suits really.

I've read somewhere the thickness of the metal is much thinner with a titanium can and that the exhaust pulses from a twin cylinder engine can fatigue the thinner titanium resulting in cracks in the can. For this reason I went for a stainless Beowulf Warrior which in any case miles lighter than the stock exhaust can.

Cheers - Steve
